CCMA announces 2010 awards nominations

The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) has announced its nominees for the 2010 edition of the Canadian Country Music Awards, and singer-songwriter Gord Bamford leads the pack with six nominations. Bamford is nominated in every category for which he is eligible, including a nod for the coveted Fans’ Choice award.

Tied with five nominations apiece are last year’s Single of the Year winner Dean Brody, reigning Group of the Year Doc Walker, six-time Roots Artist of the Year winner Corb Lund and 2009’s Top Selling Canadian Album winner, Johnny Reid. Multiple nominations have also been awarded to country stars and fan favourites Victoria Banks, George Canyon, Terri Clark, Jessie Farrell, TheHiggins and One More Girl.

The nominees for songwriter of the year are:

The awards show will take place Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, at Rexall Place in Edmonton, and will be broadcast nationally on the CBC and CMT television networks. A complete list of all nominees is available online at the CCMA website.
