General
This database has information about musical works in SOCAN’s repertoire and foreign repertoire that SOCAN is authorized to license (collectively, the “Repertoire”). It is intended to be used for informational purposes only, in the form presented. It is not intended to be relied upon or used for legal or evidentiary purposes. You should not rely on the information in this database (the “Information”) as evidence of copyright or lack of copyright in a work.
The Information has been provided by different sources. In some cases, the Information may not reflect copyright ownership of a work as registered with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. In addition, writers or publishers for whom SOCAN does not license a work are not listed.
SOCAN updates the Information regularly. However, delays in the works registration process are inevitable. Those delays are outside of SOCAN’s control. If the work you are searching for is not listed, it does not necessarily mean that it is not in the Repertoire.
Disclaimer
SOCAN makes no warranties about the Information, including but not limited to its accuracy and currency, and disclaims all liability for any losses or damages which may be incurred by anyone, directly or indirectly, as a result of using or the using of the Information, and/or for any omissions or errors. Should you choose to rely on the Information for purposes other than those for which it is expressly intended, you do so at your own risk.
This agreement shall be governed by the laws of Ontario and the laws of Canada as applicable without regard to principles of conflicts of law. Any disputes shall be determined exclusively in the courts of Ontario or Canada as applicable.
