Remember: SOCAN pays royalties to SOCAN songwriter, composer
and publisher members for the use of their songs.
This means that SOCAN members stand to benefit most when they
perform original songs during their performances since royalties are
paid to the music creators, who often are not the performers.
When you are paid to perform, whether in-person or online, the promoter is required to pay a SOCAN license for that performance which SOCAN then distributes to the rightsholders of that music.
The royalties that you have rightfully earned may already be waiting for you.
Sign in to your SOCAN account. In the Performances & Repertoire tab, click Unidentified Performances, then Concerts with No Setlist. Find your concert, complete the submission by adding your setlist. Done! Consult the guide to complete your submission.
Can’t find your concert in Concerts with No Setlist. Submit your setlists to initiate the payment process. Sign in to your SOCAN account and submit outstanding setlists using the Notification of Live Music Performance in the SOCAN Forms tab.
